Specimen must arrive in laboratory Frozen, within 24 hours of draw.

Specimen Type: Plasma

Collection Container/Tube: Blue top (3.2% sodium citrate)

Specimen Volume: Tube must be filled completely to the stated draw volume.

Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 mL plasma

Collection Instructions:

1. Fill tube completely to stated draw volume (until vacuum is exhausted).

2. Sample must be double spun, separated and frozen.

Moderate to gross hemolysis is unacceptable.

Frozen plasma must be received within 24 hours.

If received thawed will be rejected.

LMWH therapeutic: 0.5-1.0 IU/mL for twice daily dosing, 1.0-2.0 IU/mL for once daily dosing (samples collected 4-6 hours after dosing).

LMWH prophylactic: 0.10-0.30 IU/mL
