Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Plasma
Collection Container/Tube: Blue top (3.2% sodium citrate)
Specimen Volume: Tube must be filled completely to the stated draw volume.

Specimen Minimum Volume: 2 mL plasma

Collection Instructions:

1. Fill tube completely to stated draw volume (until vacuum is exhausted).

2. If test is performed within 4 hours of draw, send specimen at ambient temperature. If test is performed >4 hours after draw, send specimen frozen - double spun, separated.

3. Indicate if this test is for screening or therapeutic use.
4. If for therapeutic level, include patient’s anticoagulant information.

Reject Due To:

1. Moderate hemolysis

2. Lipemia
