Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Whole blood

Collection Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA)

Specimen Volume: 5 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 2 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Label tube with patient’s full name (first and last), Patient ID (DOB or MRN), date of collection, specimen souce (if applicable), and collector's initials.

2. Include any pertinent blood bank transfusion history.

3. A positive Direct Antiglobulin Test will Reflex Antibody Elution if indicated.
