Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Arterial whole blood

Collection Container/Tube: Sodium or lithium heparinized syringe

Specimen Volume: 2.0 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 1.0 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. The patient should be at rest for at least 20 minutes prior to blood draw.

2. Keep syringe tightly-capped.  Specimen should be analyzed within 30 minutes of collection.
