Methodology
Competitive Immunochromatographic (Alcohol - Enzymatic, Ultraviolet)
Qualitative determination for the presence of the following major metabolites: alcohol, amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, buprenorphine, cannabinoids (THC), cocaine, methamphetamines, opiates, oxycodone, methadone, tricyclic antidepressants, and PCP. This test provides only a preliminary test result. A more specific alernate chemical method must be used in order to obtain a confirmed analytical result. Gas chromatography-mass spectrophotometry (GC-MS) is the preferred confirmatory method. Specimens are held for 4 days. If GC-MS confirmation is desired, the physician should contact Alomere Health Hospital Laboratory.
