Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Segment from packed red blood cell unit.

Specimen Volume: Two segments from red blood cell unit.

Specimen Minimum Volume: One segment from red blood cell unit.

Collection Instructions:

1. Label segment with unit number.

2. Call Blood Bank at 320-762-6087 prior to sending specimen.

3. Specify antigen(s) to be typed.

4. Note number of units needed.

5. Alomere Health Hospital Laboratory performs limited antigen typing.

6. Please submit a "Request of Blood Bank Problem" consultation form.
